Nakasendo Wagyu Burger
The Burger Made for Travelers of the Nakasendo
Located in Nakatsugawa, the gateway to the historic Nakasendo Trail,
TRO’s Wagyu Burger is a burger shop created for travelers walking the Nakasendo.
For centuries, people journeyed along the Nakasendo, the mountain road connecting Kyoto and Edo (Tokyo).
Travelers walked long distances each day, stopping at post towns along the route to rest and enjoy simple but nourishing meals before continuing their journey.
Nakatsugawa was one of those important towns.
Today, hikers from around the world follow the same path, walking the beautiful forest trail between Magome and Tsumago, one of the most popular historic walks in Japan.
Our burger was created for these modern travelers.
Inspired by the meals that once supported people on the road, we designed a plate that provides both energy and comfort — perfect before starting the hike, or as a well-earned reward after completing the trail.
At the center of the plate is our Hida Wagyu Burger, made with premium Japanese Wagyu raised in the mountains of Gifu.
The set also includes:
• A warm bowl of vegetable miso soup
• Crispy potato chips
• Refreshing Japanese pickled carrot and daikon
Together they create a balanced meal — hearty, satisfying, and perfect for travelers.
Whether you are preparing for your walk on the Nakasendo Trail,
or celebrating after hiking from Magome to Tsumago,
this is a meal made for those exploring one of Japan’s most historic roads.
Our burger features a patty made from Hida Wagyu, one of Japan’s most celebrated Wagyu brands.
Raised in the mountains of Gifu Prefecture, Hida Wagyu is known for:
• Deep umami flavor
• Fine marbling
• Exceptional tenderness
When grilled, the beef develops a rich aroma and natural sweetness that makes Wagyu famous around the world.
Simple, authentic, and deeply satisfying —
this is a chance to enjoy real Japanese Wagyu while traveling the Nakasendo.
Choose Your Japanese-Inspired Sauce
You can choose from three sauces, each inspired by traditional Japanese flavors.
Wasabi Sauce
Made with Japanese wasabi, a famous Japanese condiment known for its fresh and clean heat.
It adds a refreshing kick that pairs beautifully with Wagyu beef.
Yuzu Pepper (Yuzu Kosho)
A traditional seasoning made from yuzu citrus, chili peppers, and salt.
Bright, aromatic, and slightly spicy.
Mustard Sauce
A classic mustard sauce that adds a pleasant sharpness and enhances the richness of the Wagyu beef.
These sauces allow travelers to experience authentic Japanese seasonings in a simple and delicious way.
